Intoware

WorkfloPlus is a comprehensive digital workflow platform designed to transform traditional paper-based processes into dynamic, step-by-step digital workflows that are accessible anytime, anywhere. Built for use across mobile devices, tablets, and cutting-edge wearable technology, WorkfloPlus empowers frontline workers to perform tasks with greater accuracy, safety, and efficiency — even when operating in offline environments. The platform enables businesses to create fully customizable workflows without writing a single line of code, thanks to an intuitive no-code workflow builder that allows users to design and edit processes tailored to their unique operational needs. With integrated real-time data capture, users can collect critical information such as checklists, photos, digital signatures, measurements, and voice notes directly within workflows, reducing errors and improving compliance. WorkfloPlus also supports wearable device integration, including smart glasses and AR headsets, providing a hands-free experience that is ideal for complex environments like manufacturing, engineering, utilities, and field service. The platform offers robust compliance and safety features, including automatic audit trails and secure data storage, ensuring all activities are traceable and meet regulatory standards. Additionally, built-in collaboration tools allow teams to assign, manage, and track tasks in real time, promoting better communication and accountability across the workforce. Powerful reporting and analytics dashboards give managers deep insights into workflow performance, helping to identify bottlenecks and optimize processes. Designed with enterprise-grade security in mind, WorkfloPlus ensures that sensitive data is protected while offering seamless integration with existing business systems such as ERP, CRM, and asset management platforms. Altogether, WorkfloPlus enables organizations to streamline operations, improve productivity, and ensure compliance — all within a single, scalable digital platform.
WorkfloPlus was engineered as a fully cross-platform mobile application using Xamarin iOS and Xamarin Android, underpinned by a shared core codebase to ensure consistency, maintainability, and efficient development across both platforms. By leveraging Xamarin’s shared code architecture, the core business logic, data models, API integrations, and workflow engines are written once in .NET/C#, dramatically reducing duplication and ensuring feature parity between the iOS and Android versions of the app. Platform-specific features and user interface elements were implemented using Xamarin’s native bindings to fully utilize each platform’s capabilities and provide a seamless user experience.
To enable reliable background data synchronization, including uploading and downloading of workflow data, media, and large files, Android WorkManager and iOS NSURLSession (with background transfer services) were integrated. These services allow the app to handle critical tasks such as syncing completed workflows, uploading photos or videos, and downloading new workflow templates — even when the app is closed or running in the background. WorkManager and NSURLSession ensure that these operations are persisted across app restarts, device reboots, and fluctuating network conditions, offering a robust offline-first experience essential for frontline workers operating in remote environments.
The application was also designed from the ground up as a white-label solution, enabling it to be quickly and easily rebranded and reskinned to suit different clients and industries. Through the use of dynamic theming, configurable assets, and environment-specific settings, the app’s visual identity — including logos, color schemes, and UI components — can be adapted without altering core functionality. This flexible approach allows Intoware to offer tailored versions of WorkfloPlus under different brand names while maintaining a single, maintainable codebase.
From the outset, Agile methodology was at the heart of the development process. The project was broken down into sprints, allowing the team to deliver functional components of WorkfloPlus incrementally, with continuous client feedback at each stage.
Using Agile practices such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives, the development team maintained close communication and adaptability throughout the lifecycle. Early sprints focused on building out the core workflow engine, offline functionality, and API integrations, while later sprints refined user experience, wearable device compatibility, and white-label customizations.
This iterative approach allowed for rapid prototyping and validation of features, including:
- Testing and improving the drag-and-drop workflow builder.
- Refining background sync reliability with real-world data volumes.
- Enhancing wearable device usability based on direct user feedback from field trials.
- Addressing client-specific needs through collaborative sprint reviews, ensuring that evolving business requirements were reflected in the product roadmap.
Agile enabled the team to remain flexible, responding quickly to new client demands, regulatory requirements, and user insights gathered during testing. The result is a robust, enterprise-grade application that has been shaped and improved through continuous delivery and feedback, aligned perfectly with the real needs of field workers and management teams.
By combining Agile processes with Xamarin’s cross-platform technology, native background processing (WorkManager and NSURLSession), and white-label adaptability, WorkfloPlus has been delivered as a scalable, customisable, and resilient digital workflow platform capable of serving a wide range of industries and operational environments.
